Border Control Issues

GSO(G) is aware of the continued frustrations of individuals that have either been delayed or had their passports stamped at border control. Please be assured that the GSO(G) continues engagement with the appropriate Authorities to seek to address this issue.

The German authorities have reconfirmed the acceptance of our supporting documentation and it would appear also to be the case with authorities in the Netherlands.

Other known entry points to the EU Schengen Zone continue to be a problem.

This Office and other MOD departments continue to press the matter for resolution. We appreciate this does not resolve those cases where a Passport has had an entry stamp placed within today, however currently there is nothing that we are able to physically implement to annul the stamp.

Should there be any change to the current situation, we will inform all of the supporting NSE and the Chain of Command of any progress.

Personnel are advised to carry their NATO SOFA ID Card and MOD 90 (if applicable) as confirmation that they are serving overseas.

The carriage of any household correspondence from a company of the Host Nation addressed to the residential address may also prove to be of use in overcoming the frustrations of the challenges at some frontiers today.
