Every year the weekend after Pentecost the Tolkien Days event is staged in Geldern-Pont at Niederrhein. All of the Tolkien fans and fantasy enthusiasts are herewith invited to a trip to Middle-Earth. The Tolkien Days event is the biggest one in Europe that is centered around the works by the British best-selling author.
The Tolkien Days event offer a varied physical program of activities for the entire family. The international specialties from Middle-Earth and elsewhere will cater for your physical well-being to the best of our abilities. No matter what the weather will be, the Tolkien Days event will be held. You will find presentations, workshops, music, a market place with many traders, cosplay, LARP, reenactment, exhibitions of art, introductions to games, lectures and anything that fits in with Tolkien and his works.
Tickets can be bought through our ticket shop . There, you may choose between daily tickets, or tickets for both Saturday and Sunday. More details below.
As far as accommodation goes, during the Tolkien Days event we offer our own, but relatively small, festival campsite, right next to the area where the event is held. In total, there are 100 tenting plots in total on offer. Only a few plots are left: plots with two or three persons per plot, who should bring their own tent(s). Sanitary provisions (showers and toilets) are available near the plots. The plots can be used from Friday up to and including Monday. The price (quoted below) is for plots where multiple people can stay. Every individual visitor must have his or her own entry ticket.
If you want to visit the Tolkien Days event in Geldern-Pont over several days and wish to stay right there in Pont, or in the area surrounding Pont, your best bet is to look at booking portal s in your own language and look for accommodation in Geldern , Straelen , Kerken , Kevelaer or Issum (in order of distance from nearest to furthest away).
The nearest airports are Düsseldorf (DUS) or Weeze (NRN). The Cologne-Bonn airport (CGN) is also only 100 km away. From there there is a good train connection to Geldern.
The event will for the most part feature German as the language of choice. Still, we do offer items in many languages and our visitors are increasingly more international every year. Never fear, you will feel right at home with us.
