Hours
Here is how we work in Customer Compliance Group (CCG):
• 37 hours between 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday
• There will be a requirement for frequent travel within your region and occasional travel outside of your region, including overnight stays.
• There are several business areas within CCG. You may be required to work outside of these hours if you are allocated to a specific business area.
• If you are posted to an area with working arrangements that fall outside of our standard hours, you may be eligible for flexitime.
• Further information will be provided during training if this affects you based on the role allocated
• Your working arrangement may change in-line with business needs, and that could include increased weekend or evening working. We will always give you reasonable notice of any changes to your working arrangement.
During your training period we will need you to work full-time Monday to Friday within HMRC standard operating hours, for a period of 12 weeks. This is even if you have an agreed Flexible Working Arrangement in place.
Due to the training programme in place, no leave will be granted for the first two weeks in the role, following this, any annual leave is at HMRC’s discretion.
Flexible Working Arrangements (FWA) and Part-time working
As mentioned previously, most posts are full-time but there may be the opportunity for you to work part-time or have a flexible working arrangement.
If you are successful at interview and receive a conditional offer, it will explain how to give the details of your preferred working hours. There is an expectation for part-time staff to cover the
working arrangements as above.
You’ll need to inform us of your part time or flexible working arrangement request at the conditional offer stage, even if you told us about this earlier in the application process.
Confirmation of the offer will depend on business need, so we can’t promise that your request will be accommodated.

As an Officer Systems & Data Auditor (Tax Compliance), you will be supporting our Compliance Caseworkers in carrying out Tax Investigations.
You will be providing technical systems and data interrogation support, with the intent of tackling non-compliance and electronic sales suppression. To do this, we need to you to analyse and understand customers computerised systems, software, and data in relation to their accounts.
As this is a vital role within tax compliance, we will provide you with the necessary support and learning needed. Should you have the desire to progress further, we are committed to supporting your personal development.
Job Description
What will I be doing?
The role of an Officer Systems and Data Auditor is varied and could involve:
• interviewing customers and their representatives as part of supporting investigations, either virtually or face-to-face by visiting customers premises across your region and at times outside of your region, including overnight stays.
• supporting operational colleagues with the technical aspects of the role
• identifying and documenting systems and audit trails, including details of the different software used by the customer.
• analysing and evaluating basic systems and datasets as well as supporting Higher Officer Systems Auditors with in-depth analysis of more complex systems and data, using a variety of tools
• testing accuracy of customers' financial accounting and tax liabilities
• updating and sharing internal guidance with approvers, including internal guidance, knowledge of systems, audit techniques and best practise in-line with the systems encountered and audits undertaken
• reconstructing partial data records using best judgement, logic, and available evidence
• producing audit reports to document your findings and recommendations
