What's On This Weekend?

Lots of fun to enjoy this weekend. With the start of the holidays kids can access swimming pools in Paderborn / Sennelager free of charge. Rietberg has a water park set up for the kids. Brackwede has a DJ pool party set up. 

Dusseldorf is hosting Germany's biggest funfair with spectacular drone and fireworks show. 

Munster is hosting the Summersend fair.

The Kaltenberg medieval fair puts on a full arena show with jousting and sword combat plus an immersive themed market. 

Rietberg Gartenschau Water fun - Open Now 

The Garden Park is hosting six weeks of water based fun for kids this summer. From 1000 - 1800 each day you pay to enter the park (6 Euro for adults and 3 Euro for kids.) Then the water slides and boats are free to use. 


You will find the water park in the North section of the park (Make sure you head to the correct side of the park you can spend a long time walking between the two sides.)

The park is a massive site with gardens to enjoy and stacks of family activities too.

Dusseldorf Rhinekirmes 11th - 20th July 

The biggest funfair in Germany is back. The Rhinekirmes spectacular boasts two drone shows and the "Super" firework show on the 18th Jul.

  • Saturday, July 12th 1 p.m. – 2 a.m. 10:30 p.m. Drone show
  • Sunday, July 13th 11 a.m. – midnight
  • Monday, July 14th 2 pm – midnight 
  • Tuesday, July 15th 2 p.m. – midnight
  • Wednesday, July 16th 2 p.m. – midnight
  • Thursday, July 17th 2 p.m. – midnight
  • Friday, July 18th 2 pm – 2 am 10:15 pm Drone Show 10:30 pm Fireworks
  • Saturday, July 19th 1 p.m. – 2 a.m.

The fair has a great mix of rides for families and thrill seekers too. You will find many beer and festival tents to enjoy each day.  Some beer tents need a reservation or separate tickets these can be booked using the links on the website here.


Summer Pool Party with DJ -  Brackwede outdoor pool. 17th July 1400 - 1800

Head to Bielefeld to enjoy the summer pool party. Live DJ with inflatables set up in the pool. 

The Zephyrus Disco Team, Germany's No. 1 pool party team, will be providing a grand water spectacle.

A professional DJ will get the party started with pop hits. 


In the water, large inflatable play equipment  including sea monsters, water turtles, giant octopuses, and even a disco bunny will be set up in the pool. 

The event is aimed at school kids enjoying the summer holidays. Families are welcome.  Kids under 18 entry is 3 Euro and 5.50 Euro for over 18's. 




Paderborn pools are free for kids in the school holidays

Summersend Munster 17th - 21st July 

The fairground on Schlossplatz is located close to Münster Castle. Classic rides sit with thrill rides with all the traditional food and drink you would expect to find. Fireworks will be on the 18th.

Thursday 17th, is Family Day with a 30 percent discount on all rides and attractions, and the retail outlets will reduce the price of one main item by at least 25 percent.

On Friday, July 18, the traditional fireworks display will take place after dark at around 10:30 p.m.

Kaltenberg medieval spectacular 18th & 25th July

Though the event is a trip best suited for a weekend away due to distance (Kaltenberg castle is near Munich.) Drive time is 6 hours. Tickets can be booked for the arena show from 35 euro for standing and from 54 Euro for seating.

Paderborn Libori 19th July - Pre Sale 
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on the 19th visit the Rathaus to purchase the 2025 beer mug and or commemoratives glasses. on the 21st onwards, they will be available daily at the Paderborn Tourist Information office. More details on the main Libori website
