GSU Newsletter




CO GSU:Welcome to the new Sennelager Garrison Newsletter. Each month GSU will publish this Newsletter to spread information about any changes or updates to policy, notices, as well as any local updates and information for the Garrison community as a whole.

If you have any news or events that need to be shared, please inform Mrs Pippa Chase (SennelagerGSU-HQ-CGp-Asst).

NOTICES

CGS –General Sir CRV Walker KCB DSO assumed the role of Chief of the General Staff on 17 Jun. 

Armed Forces Pay Award 2024 –The announcement of the pay award will likely happen after the General Election and at this stage it is not possible to give exact timelines. Defence is hopeful that an announcement will be possible ahead of parliamentary recess, but there remains potential for further delays. Please be assured that any pay award will be backdated to 1 April 2024.

JPA & Apps Major Downtime–A number of services incl JPA& MySeries Apps will be unavailable for the duration of the Application Migration Cutover window between 16 Aug – 2 Sep.

MySafety –The reporting element of DURALS has been rebranded to ‘MySafety’ MySafety is accessible online via MODnet and initial incident alerts can be completed via any Personal Electronic Device (PED) connected to the internet via MySafety Alert on the Defence Gateway.Civilian and military users can access MySafety without needing to request an account. Upon first logon, they will need to enter their service/staff number and an account will be automatically created.

CEA (My Admin) - Local policy is that MyAdmin is NOT to be used for CEA purposes, please continue to email Mrs Jo Harness as before and apply for CEA/SCV as normal using the desktop version of JPA. 

CEA (Autumn Term) - As a result of JPA unavailability for 2 weeks from mid-August, Defence Business Services DBS has brought forward the submission and processing dates for CEA (see JPA Ops Bulletin 2405-001) claims for the Autumn 24 term.  As a result, CEA rates for academic year 2024 / 25 will be effective from 1 July 24 and notified via a Directed Letter.

Health&Safety Checks – The GSU H&S Advisor is available to support H&S checks in Normandy Bks. Line Managers should be conducting 6 monthly workplace inspections which should be recorded for audit.

Get You Home (Overseas) – As of 1st June 2024 the GYH(O) rate has been reduced from £269 to £248.

WELLBEING

Army Health Landing Page – There is a new Army Health Landing page for all things health and wellbeing. Access via SharePoint (Army-Health Promotion - Home (sharepoint.com)).  The new dashboard covers Diet, Nutrition, Hydration, Musculoskeletal Injury, Women’s Health, Men’s Health, Mental Fitness, Suicide Prevention, Force Health Protection, Alcohol, Sleep and smoking cessation.

 SPORTS EQUIP PUBLIC FUND& LIVED EXPERIENCE IMPROVEMENT FUND

The GSU have been allocated their annual allocation of Sports Equip Public Fund (SEPF) for 2024-2025.  If you have any ideas on what Category One or Two sports equipment is required for the benefit of the Garrison community, please inform Mr Allen Poulson in the Garrison Gymnasium.


The Garrison is now a RC RPOC and has delegated authority to spend small amounts against the Lived Experience Improvement Fund.  If there are any requests for funding against the fund, please request through you CoC to engage with HQ GSU.

Day Subsistence (Germany) - €67.78 (from €66.87)

Special Messing Allowance (Germany)-€50.83 (from €50.15)


Note the Child Element of the Disturbance Allowance increased to £109.41 from £81 on the 1 Apr 24.
