Germany Volkfest Fun Fairs and Markets

Germany is home to some incredible fairs and markets. These are as much part of Germany as the Bratwurst, Beer and Christmas markets. 

The fairs often date back to markets which started 700 - 800 years ago. Today you can enjoy funfairs alongside the traditional religious and cultural events. 

Here are just a few of the events you can enjoy every summer in Germany. 

July 2024

Rhinekirmes -  Dusseldorf -  12th  - 21st Jul

Family fun arrives in Dusseldorf on the 12th -21st July. The Rhinekimes is a massive funfair built on the banks of the Rhine.

Families will find great rides, food and festival fun. 


Detmold -Sommerkirmes - 19th - 22nd Jul














The city of Detmold invites all to the traditional summer fair the Bruchmarkt. From Friday, 19th July, 2024, to Monday, 22nd July, 2024 in the Bruchberg and Rosental event area.

The summer fair offers a wide range of rides for all ages. Attractions include the popular bumper car, the exciting The Aviator, the child-friendly Maya the Bee and the entertaining children's sports carousel.

Stalls with sweet treats and bar stalls offering a variety of food and drinksIn total, around 40 vendors will be present at the fair.

A special highlight awaits visitors on Monday: on this day, each carousel ride costs only 2.00 euros.
 
Drivers are advised to avoid the affected inner city area and to use alternative parking spaces. These are located at Lustgarten (P1), Kronenplatz (P7) and Wotanstraße/parking garage at the tax office (P9).

The Hamburg Dom fests delight millions of visitors each year in Spring , summer and winter.

You can ride exciting rollercoasters, ghost trains and, nostalgic rides. browse the market stalls and enjoy the food. The Hamburg DOM offers pure entertainment.


Libori - Paderborn - 27th Jul - 4th Aug 







For nine days each year Paderborn celebrates St Liborious. With a mixture of religious and non religious celebrations. Over one million visitors enjoy the fair each year.

"Libori is something you just have to experience, it can't be described," - Michael Dreier, Mayor of Paderborn.

Cranger Kirmes - Herne - 1st -11th Aug











The Cranger Kirmes includes a traditional parade, the two fireworks displays a children's afternoon.

live music and concerts in the Cranger Festhalle. The beer gardens on the square will keep guests fed and watered.

Gaubodenfest - Straubing - 9th - 19th Aug

7 Beer Tents, 27,00 seats, 130 rides, attractions and stalls.  All make up the Bavarian summer beer festival.

Volksfest - Nuremburg - 23rd Aug - 8th Sep 

Travel down to Bavaria and enjoy this family focused Volksfest. the organisers try find the best quality rides and food to bring to the fair ground each year.

Canstatter - Stuttgart -  27th Sep - 4th Oct 

Like something out of a picture book is how many describe the Canstatter. The Stuttgart fair is possibly the largest in Germany.
