Paderborn Possible Heavy Rush Hour Traffic Delays from Monday 21st

Due to renovation work, the traffic lights on the L813 in Paderborn at the intersection of Heinz-Nixdorf-Ring, Münsterstraße and Wilhelmshöhe will be switched off from Monday, March 21st.

The background to the measure is the technical renewal of the entire traffic light system. The control technology, the signals, the masts and the entire wiring will be renewed. To do this, the entire system must be shut down.

Traffic at the intersection will be controlled by a construction site traffic light during the renewal.

The traffic light control unit has been in operation since the late 1980s. After the manufacturer has given up the series, the procurement of spare parts becomes increasingly difficult.

With the modernization of the signaling technology, traffic control at the intersection can also be ensured by the traffic lights in the future.

The changed traffic needs are also taken into account, so that in future the two left-turning roads onto the Heinz-Nixdorf-Ring will be safely guided in their own phase.

Furthermore, the two right turns from Münsterstrasse to Heinz-Nixdorf-Ring and from Wilhelmshöhe to Heinz-Nixdorf-Ring are signaled and guided safely.

In the course of the renewal of the traffic lights, the construction site lights will not be regulated depending on traffic and will not be coordinated by the traffic computer of the city of Paderborn.

Due to the fixed circulation of the construction site traffic lights, there may be obstructions, especially during rush hour traffic.

The work to renew the traffic lights, including the necessary civil engineering work, is expected to be completed by the end of April. The costs for the renewal measure amount to EUR 100,000 and are borne by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Strassen.NRW asks all road users to understand the expected obstructions and at the same time to pay more attention in the area of intersections. Road users who know the area are asked to avoid the intersection.
