Paderborn Karneval details 2025

The big parade kicks off 14:14 on Sat 1st March.

Here is the route in Paderborn:

Hathumarstraße – Mühlenstraße – Kisau- Westernmauer – Marienstraße – Marienplatz – Rathausplatz – Kamp – Kasseler Straße – Heiersstraße – Ükernplatz – Mühlenstraße -Hathumarstraße - Maspernplatz-Ost.



Road closures
Closures begin on March 1st, from 8 a.m. on the side streets. Followed by further closure measures on the inner ring.

Due to the current security situation in Germany, this year in particular, it is pointed out that neither driving into nor leaving the closed area of ​​the inner ring is possible from 12 p.m.

The procession is expected to end around 6 p.m. However, the respective sections of road can only be reopened once the street cleaning, which is carried out by the ASP, has been completed.

Busses
Due to the carnival parade, lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 will not be able to serve the stops “Rathausplatz”, “Kamp”, “Am Bogen”, “Heiersstraße”, “Kasseler Straße” and “Michaelsstraße” from March 1st, 2025 at 4:00 a.m. to March 2nd, 2025 at 12:30 a.m. 

Replacement stops will be “Neuhäuser Tor”, “Maspernplatz” (on the inner ring) and “Detmolder Tor” (on the inner ring) as well as the regional bus stops on Kasseler Straße and Gierstor.

Line 5 will therefore not stop at its usual stop at the “Maspernplatz” stop, but will instead use the “Maspernplatz” stop on the Inner Ring. 

The “Detmolder Tor” stop for lines 2, 3 and 6 will also be moved towards the city center from Heiersstraße to the Inner Ring.

The night buses are not affected by these diversions.


Parking
No vehicles are allowed to park along the parade route, as these areas are intended to be available for spectators but also to prevent damage to the vehicles. Drivers must park their vehicles in other areas from 8 a.m on Saturday. 

The parking areas at the Western Wall in the section between Marienstraße and Kisau will be closed on Saturday from 8 a.m. 

Maspernplatz-Ost will be closed on Thursday, February 27, as the tent and stands for the closing event will be set up here and the parade participants will line up on Saturday.

  • The St. Vincenz Hospital car park can be reached via Kasseler Tor and Kasseler Straße. The entrances and exits in the area of ​​the roundabout (Kamp/Kasseler Str.) remain open. The entrance and exit to the Volksbank car park will be closed from 12 noon. This also applies to the Domplatz.
  • The Aspethera Hotel can be reached via Giersstraße and Laurentiusgasse.
  • From 12 noon on March 1st, the Königsplatz underground car park will no longer be accessible via Marienstraße. 
  • From 12 noon until Marienstraße is reopened, entry and exit will only be possible via the Alte Torgasse entrance from the Westerntor direction.
