Libori 2023 How to Get There and Key Events

Libori 2023 promises to be a massive event for Paderborn. Record crowds are expected in the city from the 22nd - 30th July. 


From apps to maps and event listings, below is some handy information to help you plan for a fun time at this years Libori.

The Libori App
This app is in German language. But it has a handy map and the important dates and events. 



Bus services
The easiest way to reach the celebrations is to take the bus. 
Use the final stop at the corner of Thuner Weg and Londoner Str  as a good place to meet and catch the Nbr 11 bus to Westentor. On the return the nbr 11 departs from stand A3.

Parking at the Libori


Competition will be high for parking. Best advice is to arrive early. Use the parking link above to scope out parking options.

Libori 2023 Key Events and Places

Saturday 22rd July 
2pm - the church bells ring in Libori and the fun fair opens for the first time.

3pm Paderborn Dom - The relics of St. Liborius are solemnly raised in the High Cathedral, to which the Libori fanfare sounds. A Vespers service follows.

4:30pm Paderborn Mayor Michael Dreier officially opens the celebrations. 

Sunday 30th July 
10:30pm Closing fireworks.

The fairgound opens at 2pm on the 22nd and 11am everday. Closes at midnight.

The Cathedral Domplatz
Is the centre of the religious celebrations and hosts the Potmarkt the excellent craft and medieval market is located around the cathedral and in the grounds. A mass service will be held each morning.

On Tues 25th July The Golden Shrine will be carried in a procession through the city. After which the relics of St. Liborius are returned to the crypt.

The Pottmarkt will have 150 traders this year. You can explore the market as it winds around the Domplatz.




The Rathaus
Is the hub of the secular Libori celebrations. Each day you will find the giant beer keg open for 90 mins. Offering a chance to buy a commemorative mug or glass.

Opening weekend, the beer is on sale from 4.30pm to 6pm. Then 7pm to 8.30pm during the week. The final weekend is 6pm - 7.30pm both days. But don't worry. Many beer tents will be open in the city also.

Liboriberg 
is the car park which becomes the city fairground. Beer tents and food can also be found here. 

One of the world's largest Ferris wheels, a full size water ride plus a 120kmph air swing carousel are all star attractions. 

is a family square with shows and events for children throughout the day and then music acts on most nights. Every Libori day ends at 9 p.m. with DJ sets:

At Franz-Stock Platz. Again there are 3 channels with 3 top DJs for you to choose from. You decide who you want to hear and choose the non plus ultra from 3 channels:

  • Funk, Soul, Hip Hop & Classixx
Europa Plaza
Located on Kamp in the Gymnasium Theodorianum, this is the main food area for Libori. 

The menu ranges from traditional currywurst to Balik salmon and caviar. There is street food, American hot dogs, briskets from the smoker and salmon on potato waffles. 

Wok and tarte flambĂ©e, antipasti and baguettes, cevapcici and Arabic vegetarian and vegan dishes are prepared by regional professionals. 

The large wine bar offers the most attractive European wines and next to the cocktail line there is also a Prosecco bar.


Fireworks
The Pader Quelle hosts the firework show which tradditionally closes the Libori. More than 1,000 individual fireworks and lighting effects. will illuminate the Pader Quelle more than 15,000 enthusiastic spectators can be accomodated in the immediate area

For safety reasons, the city of Paderborn reserves the right to close the square in front of the city administration early to avoid overcrowding.
