From Friday, November 22nd to Monday, December 23rd, it will be Christmas again in the entire city center.
What's in the Market?
At 75 stalls there are a wide variety of delicacies, but this Advent there is also a particularly large selection of handicrafts, Christmas decorations and toys. Whether gifts made of wood, wool or leather, cookie cutters for Christmas baking or Bunzlau ceramics - there is something for everyone at the approximately 17 handicraft huts.
Christmas Pyramid
This year, too, the 20-meter-high Paderborn Christmas pyramid on the market square is a special focal point. With six levels, it is one of the largest walk-in Christmas pyramids. The pyramid, made of real wood in the Westphalian half-timbered style, invites visitors to the two lower walk-in levels. Hand-carved Christmas figures circle on the four rotating levels above. The highlight is the copper tip with oversized, illuminated and movable wings.
The historic Ferris wheel and the Paderborn horse carousel, an original over 100 years old with wooden horses, carriages and sleighs, give Marienplatz its own charm. From here you can enjoy a unique view of the town hall, which this year will once again be the largest Advent calendar in the region.
Rathaus Advent Calendar
Every day a window in the magnificent Weser Renaissance façade is opened and reveals one of the 24 Christmas motifs painted by children from Paderborn's primary schools. In addition, there will also be a living nativity scene in front of the entrance to the market church this year.
Special concerts
On Sunday, December 1st, the Sunday Revival Orchestra will traditionally play its Christmas concert in Paderborn Town Hall. It starts at 3 p.m. and is conducted by Reiner Franzke. Admission is free, but donations for the good cause are requested.
