On 11 July, several legendary football players will line up on Hafenstrasse in Essen.
A UEFA All-Stars squad will take on the 2004 European football champions - Greece. Top European footballers who have retired from active football have been selected for this match.
The UEFA All-Stars include Essen's and ex-DFB goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, former French footballer Mikael Silvestre, former Italian international Marco Materazzi, French players William Gallas, Christian Karembeu Spanish legend Gaitzka Mendieta, world footballer Claude Makellele from France and the Irish goalscorer Robbie Keane. They join Luis Figo , David James and Fernando Llorente.
Silvestre, Makelele and Galas, who played a key role in the 2004 quarter-finals when Greece eliminated France, are seeking revenge against Thodoris Zagorakis and co.
The game is on July 11th at 9pm. Tickets are available online for 20 euros and 40 euros . The proceeds go to a foundation with which the former Greek national players support children in Greece and refugee children.
Essen coaching legend Otto Rehhagel led the Greek national team to victory in 2004, and he will once again be on the sidelines as the Greek coach.
