The summer holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia have begun, and with them, there's a lot going on at the Westphalian Sea. It goes without saying that there's a lot going on in, on, and on the water at Lake Möhne this summer...
Starting on the water. If you don't just want to chill by the lake and occasionally plunge into the waves, you can rent all kinds of boats, go diving, or fishing. The options are there!
Möhnesee cruise
In between, you'll spend a leisurely hour cruising across the lake on the MS Möhnesee . Whether with coffee and cake or one of the onboard events, the view of the dam and the Arnsberg Forest provides the perfect entertainment.
End your eventful day at the seaside at the end of the day at the lakeside park.
After work at the lake enjoy a drink as the sunsets and mingle with friends at a range of events this summer.
Festival On The Lake
Things won't be quite so tranquil at this year's Bridge Festival, which runs from August 7th to 10th. With live music on two stages, a funfair, and a varied program for all ages, the festival is once again an experience for the whole family after a three-year hiatus.
Children's Fun Triathlon
Swimming, cycling, and running: just like the pros, the little ones will compete in the three disciplines at the Kids' Fun Triathlon on August 30th. Children ages three to twelve will complete age-appropriate courses in the lower part of the lake park. There will be no timekeeping; all children will receive a medal and a T-shirt. And they'll enjoy the cheering from the spectators!
Holiday tip: our public tours
Anyone planning a day trip to Lake Möhne should keep an eye on the following dates:
July 26: Nature and history with a view. A two-hour hike through the lakeside park, over the Körbeck Bridge, and up to the Möhnesee Tower.
August 8: Relaxing Lake Möhne with a compact dam. You'll start with a leisurely boat trip across Lake Möhne, followed by fascinating information about the history and technology of the impressive dam.
August 16: About myths and secrets. The Drüggelter Chapel is an extraordinary place even without the aforementioned concerts. Can the tour guide reveal a few secrets?
In addition, many other tours are offered in the dam's inspection tunnels. In the summer heat, "A Look Behind the Scenes" promises just the right cooling off.
